Ring sizing may sound straightforward, but every ring is different. The metal, width of the band, amount of sizing needed, and placement of diamonds or gemstones can all affect how the ring should be resized.
Our jewelers evaluate each piece individually before beginning any work. We'll explain what your ring needs, provide a written estimate, and never begin work until you approve it.
Sizing Up
When a ring needs to be made larger, additional metal may need to be added to the shank to create the proper size while maintaining the integrity of the ring.
Sizing Down
When sizing a ring smaller, a section of the shank is carefully removed before the ring is reshaped, joined and refinished.
More Complex Sizing
Rings with diamonds along the shank, wide bands, delicate settings, previous repairs or significant size changes may require additional work.

What Happens When We Size Your Ring?
Your ring is inspected before work begins. Once the sizing is completed, our jewelers reshape and refinish the ring and inspect the stones and settings before it leaves our shop.
For white gold rings, refinishing may also include rhodium plating to restore the bright white finish.
And because our jewelry repair shop is located inside our Montgomery showroom, you ring doesn't have to be shipped to an outside facility.

How long does it take to resize a ring?
Most ring sizing repairs are completed within five business days or less, depending on the design and complexity of the work. Because our jewelry repair shop is located on-site in Montgomery, we can often accommodate quicker turnaround times. Express service, including same-day, next-day, and select while-you-wait repairs, is available for an additional charge.
Can you resize a ring I didn't buy from Diamonds Rock?
Absolutely! You do not need to have purchased your ring from Diamonds Rock to have it resized by our jewelers. We work on engagement rings, wedding bands, heirloom jewelry, and rings purchased from other retailers. Every ring is inspected before work begins to determine the safest resizing method.
Will resizing my ring damage it?
Many rings can be resized up or down one to two full sizes, although some designs allow for greater adjustments. Eternity bands can be challenging to resize because diamonds or gemstones extend around the entire band. Depending on the design and construction, some eternity bands may allow for minor adjustments, while others cannot be safely resized using traditional methods. Our jewelers will examine your ring and explain the available options before recommending any work.
Do you offer same-day ring sizing?
Yes! Same-day ring sizing and even while-you-wait service are available for select repairs. Availability depends on the ring's design, complexity, and time of drop-off.
